We embarked on a unique journey today, starting at 9:30 a.m. and wrapping up at 7:30 p.m. Joining me were Stav and Anat, special visitors from Israel, exploring the sights of Texas and Oklahoma. I say Unique as this is my first single day trip of the blog.

Milton's Farm

Our first stop was Milton's farm. Milton is my brother from another mother, and we have been very close for the last 30 years. Today's route took us right by Milton's farm, so we could not drive by without stopping for a quick bear hug and a big hello.

Seeing Milton always re-energizes me and makes me feel good until the next time I see him.

Stav and Anat were mesmerized by his Turkish sheepdogs, and let me tell you, they are big and beautiful.

We spent 10 minutes chatting with Milton and headed out to our next destination.

Davy Crockett Lake

While we weren't planning on stopping at Davy Crockett Lake, as we drove by, it caught our attention, so we quickly pulled in, and there was the famous boat ramp picture with Steele.

It was a very nice, relaxing first stop to enjoy the weather, the fresh air, and the open waters.

We would have had lunch there, but there were no tables, so we decided to keep moving to our next place.

Texas Picnic Area Lunch

We arrived at a Texas picnic lunch area, parked the car right next to the table, and pulled out the entire breakfast buffet, which included, but was not limited to:

  • Nespresso coffee, both caffeinated and decaf

  • Pastrami sandwiches

  • Cheese and vegetable sandwiches

  • Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches

  • Honey and nut cake

We definitely had no plans of leaving this place hungry.

As we were enjoying breakfast, we saw a big black Cadillac Escalade driving around slowly. A woman came out and told us about a missing dog she was trying to look for, that has been known to lurk around this picnic area. We told her we had not seen a dog, and away she went around to the far edge of the picnic area. But just as she left, we suddenly noticed a brown and black dog walking around the area, so we hailed her, and she spent the entire time we were at breakfast trying to lure the dog into her car, I must say, without success.

After we finished breakfast and the car was all packed up, and we were sitting in the car, we suddenly noticed the dog was sitting right outside the front door of our vehicle.

But as soon as we opened the door, she dashed away, and besides, it wasn't 'adopt a puppy' day for us anyway.

Beavers Bend Dam

We drove on and arrived at Beavers Bend Dam, which was really pretty and relaxing.

From Beavers Bend Dam viewpoint, we had a great opportunity to see Broken Bow Lake and how big it really was.

Eagle Drive Campsite & Crystal Point Campsite

The next two places were campsites on Broken Bow Lake. Driving to these campsites with small, narrow roads surrounded by beautiful tall trees had a very relaxing feeling.

We noticed in multiple locations a rack with a few dozen life vests, which the campsite leaves out for people to use if they plan to go swimming, for their safety, and we thought that was quite a nice gesture.

You can see from the pictures these campsites were really nice. By now, the temperatures had dropped to 60°, and we were ready to hop in the nice warm car and head back home.

The drive home was about 3 hours, and traffic was not sparse, much more cars than I anticipated on a Monday school day.

We made it home by 7:30 p.m.

Summary

I think both Stav and Anat got to see a few sites of Oklahoma and Texas, but also got to feel the vast open spaces we have here in our beautiful country.
